DECC Donates over Four Thousand Pounds of Food to CHUM

Duluth, MN (February 3, 2021) – CHUM received 4,186 pounds of frozen food from the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) today. Ensuring spaces within the DECC complex are ready for activity is a critical step as the DECC prepares for an increase in events. Clearing the freezers of older inventory is one step in that process.

“Resuming more and more activity at the DECC calls for a fresh start in many areas. Clearing out the freezers to be ready for new events and new inventory has the added bonus of being able to give back to the needy in our community,” said Roger Reinert, Interim Executive Director at the DECC. This is food that has been maintained properly, but is nearing expiration dates. Reinert continued, “It’s not usable by us, but will really benefit others.”

CHUM’s Director of Distributed Services, Scott Van Daele said, “Donations to CHUM and other area centers have a huge impact on the Duluth community. There are hungry people in the community and region, and we appreciate when we are able to partner with organizations like the DECC to continually support those in need.”
