Photo Gallery: Cirque du Soleil Crystal

Cirque du Soleil returned to AMSOIL Arena April 19-21, 2019 with its breakthrough new story: Crystal.

The Cirque du Soleil Crystal visuals, acrobatics, skating, and enthusiasm maintained intrigue and enjoyment for the performance. Duluth Mayor Emily Larson joined us Friday, April 19 to welcome Cirque cast and crew to Duluth. A Crystal ice sculpture was crafted by hobby sculptor Paul Madsen “Nice Ice,” was beautifully lit by local company Duluth Event Lighting. One of the performers donned a UMD Bulldogs hockey jersey in honor of the UMD Men’s NCAA national title win earlier this month. Although Cirque du Soleil is an internationally recognized performing art, its weekend at AMSOIL Arena became a true local celebration.

Directed by Shana Carroll and Sebastien Soldevila. CRYSTAL is the first-ever experience on ice from Cirque du Soleil.  World-class ice skaters and acrobats take their new frozen playground by storm with speed and fluidity as they change the laws of gravity with a flurry of unexpected acrobatics.   CRYSTAL fuses circus arts and the world of ice skating in a stunning new production that will take the audience on a journey into a surreal world of figure skating, acrobatics and aerial feats.

Crystal, our misfit heroine, took us on an exhilarating tale of self-discovery as she dove into a world of her own imagination. The adrenaline was palpable as she soared through this surreal world at high speed to become what she was always destined to be: confident, liberated, and empowered.  CRYSTAL suspended our reality and took us into a world of colorful life with astounding visual projections and a soundtrack blend of popular music and the signature sound of Cirque du Soleil.
