Music On The Ship

Presented By Pizza Lucé

A Free Concert Series on the William A Irvin

Thursday, August 29 – Boss Mama / Sonja Martin Band

BOSS MAMA

“Singer, songwriter, guitarist and “Boss Mama” Colleen Myhre has connected with a loose band of hard-rocking desperados and dubbed them the Jebberhooch.  Together, Boss Mama and the Jebberhooch put out dusty, dirty, gritty blues that rumble across the stage like a beat-up sedan over a Mississippi Delta dirt road.  Their sound is a shake-and-baked helping of country soul, blood harmony and deep groove funkiness.  The band features Jeff Gilbertson on Bass and brothers Jacob Mahon on guitar and Owen Mahon on drums.”

SONJA MARTIN BAND

Sonja Rebecca Martin is a singer/songwriter from Duluth, MN. She and her husband Lee Martin co-founded the folk group Feeding Leroy and have been writing and singing with the band since 2013. Sonja’s love of folk music has been influenced by, of course, Gillian Welch, as well as Kate Wolf, Sandy Denny, and Linda Ronstadt, among others. She loves to harmonize with other voices and find those close weavings of harmonies that you can feel in your bones.

ABOUT MUSIC ON THE SHIP

When Singer/ Songwriter Charity Benedict returned to Duluth, she was looking for a unique venue to bring local musicians. Music On The Ship is her vision & creation!

Benedict says, “I wanted to find a really cool place that had never showcased local musicians and bring those two worlds together, vibe and energy.” Because of her efforts, we’ll be VIBING for six Thursdays this summer!
Starting July 25, the Irvin will feature a variety of genres (from jazz to hard rock to 80’s pop) performed by local musicians.
