Summary/Objective
Supervise and work alongside the part-time Building Services Staff. This includes convention services and custodial services. The foreperson’s primary duties will be to ensure that the DECC’s events are set, maintained, and torn down.

Schedule

Scheduling will be based on the DECC’s event schedule. A person in this position is expected to work 40 hours per week. Shifts are typically 8 hours per day, but may occasionally be longer or shorter based on the needs of event schedule.

Uniform
The DECC will provide polos or t-shirts with the DECC logo. Additional clothing will be provided as noted in the Collective bargaining agreement.

  • Work directly with clients to ensure their needs are met
  • Assist with scheduling of the Building Services Staff
  • Review event sheets and ensure event areas are set up and orderly
  • Adopt and promote the DECC’s safety culture
  • Assist team and/or other departments with tasks, including cleaning, moving chairs or signage, and other event related functions
  • Monitor inventory and prepare supply orders, based on upcoming event needs
  • Maintain and operate the facility’s cleaning equipment
  • Learn and operate the DECC’s scissor lifts, boom lifts, and forklifts
  • Work alongside the Building Services crew while cleaning, removing trash, setting rooms, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities
This position requires high levels of supervisory responsibilities. The Second Shift Foreperson will be responsible for coordinating the Building Services staff and directing tasks as instructed by the Building Services Director and Manager and as dictated by upcoming event needs. They will assist the Building Services Management team with greeting and interacting with clients and making sure that all of their needs are met.

 

Work Environment
The Second Shift Foreperson will be in varying work spaces based on the needs of each event. The position involves working indoors and outdoors and working within environments that will range from hot to cold.

 

Physical Demands

This position will require someone that is able to stand on their feet for many hours at a time and move quickly to different places based on needs.  The Second Shift Foreperson will need to be able to lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 40lbs on their own as well as items weighing more with the assistance of other team members

Required Education and Experience

  • 1+ years supervisory or managerial experience
  • Custodial experience
  • General computer skills

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Forklift training

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Successful completion of reference checks
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Successful completion of a drug test, if applicable

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements
The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s).
The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources.
