part-time JOB AT THE DECC Concessions Manager on Duty (MOD) Summary Title Concession Manager on Duty (MOD) FLSA Classification Non-Exempt Type of Position Part-Time, Event-Driven Type of Employment At-Will Hourly Wage $17.oo/hr Department Concessions Reports to Concession Manager Date of Last Revision 10/6/21 Summary/Objective Our Managers on Duty (MOD) are part time team member who are assigned for limited periods of time, to assist the Concessions Manager in the supervision of events. This is a great position for an outgoing, organized person, with hospitality experience who is seeking part-time, flexible hours in a dynamic, fun and professional work environment. Schedule This position is part-time with a schedule based on DECC event needs. This position will have mostly afternoon and/or evening shifts with an occasional day shift scheduled on various days of the week, and may include some holidays. Concessions has the busiest schedule from October to April. Availability for UMD Men’s Hockey games is essential. The DECC cannot schedule a definite ending time due to the nature of events, but an estimated time will be provided. Uniform The required dress may fluctuate from business profession to casual based on the event. DECC will provide a branded t-shirt and/or polo. Assisting Cook staff as needed. Promote a strong safety culture within the Concessions department Assist with inventory, if needed Serves as a floor manager during events Works with other departments to problem solve and ensure the best customer experience Management of Quest POS system, front of house and back of house Basic computer knowledge for end-of-shift duties. Cash handling, credit card, and till management Other Duties as assigned Competencies Ability to ensure a high level of customer service Ability to adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events Ability to resolve problems and manage difficult situations as needed Ability to handle cash, credit cards, and checks Excellent organizational and time management skills Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise Concessions staff. Work Environment The majority of work will be performed within doors. Many of the areas will fluctuate from moderate to loud noise levels. Temperature can fluctuate from hot to cold. Physical Demands This position will require someone that is able to stand on their feet for many hours at a time, moving quickly to different places based on needs. The MOD will need to use their hands frequently, and be able to see, hear, and speak often. This position will require bending and maneuvering, and also the ability to move and lift up to 40 pounds at times. Travel Required No Required Education and Experience There are no minimum education requirements for this position Basic math skills and cash handling experience Basic computer knowledge 1 year supervisory experience within the food service field Preferred Education and Experience Serve-Safe Certification Previous POS experience Additional Eligibility Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older. Successful completion of reference checks Successful completion of a background check Successful completion of a drug test, if applicable Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire.
