The Cashier accurately counts cash and checks received from various departments, prepares daily bank deposits, and verifies deposits for other departments.

Approximately 3 days a week, including some weekends, based on event schedule.

  • Count cash accurately
  • Verify cash to reports and supporting documents for multiple departments
  • Prepare deposits for armored car pickup
  • Manage cash balances and request change as needed
  • Prepare reports as needed using Excel
  • Set up parking staff for daily and event business with parking tickets and starting cash


  • Ability to count and handle cash
  • Must enjoy counting money and working with numbers
  • Must have a working knowledge of computers and Excel
  • Ability to adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events

Supervisory Responsibilities

Work Environment
Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment. The noise level is usually quiet and occasionally moderately loud.

Physical Demands
The Cashier must be able to lift cases of quarters, nickels and dimes (up to 35 pounds) with or without accommodation. Most work is performed while sitting at a desk or standing for long periods of time. They will need to use their hands frequently, and be able to see, hear, and speak, type, and handle cash often.  This position will require bending and maneuvering, and also the ability to move and lift up to 35 pounds.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Cash-handling experience
  • Computer experience

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Successful completion of reference checks
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Successful completion of a drug test, if applicable

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements
The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s).
The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources.

This means if you are offered the position and accept, your employment with the DECC is for an indefinite period of time and it is subject to termination by you or the DECC, with or without cause, with or without notice, and at any time.
