part-time JOB AT THE DECC Box Office Ticket Seller Summary Title Box Office Ticket Seller FLSA Classification Non-Exempt Type of Position Part-Time, Event Driven Type of Employment At-Will Hourly Wage $12.50 Department Finance Reports to Box Office Manager Date of Last Revision 8/19/2021 Summary/Objective The Box Office Ticket Seller is one of the first impressions that our guests come see. They must have strong customer service skills, present themselves in a professional manner and have a welcoming demeanor. Box Office Sellers will greet guests, direct them to events, answer in-person and phone questions, sells tickets using Ticketmaster’s computerized ticketing platform, sells rolled tickets or hard tickets to customers via in-person or over the phone. They will also perform other tasks like light cleaning, organizing and operating smart devices. Schedule This position is part-time with a schedule based on DECC event needs. This position will have day, afternoon, and/or evening shifts scheduled on various days of the week and may include some holidays. Approximately 10-20 hours per week, but the schedule and hours will vary based on event needs. The DECC cannot always schedule a definite ending time due to the nature of the events, but an estimated time may be provided. Sell tickets via computerized ticketing system, rolled tickets or pre-printed hard tickets to customers while providing exceptional customer service Accept payments for ticketing orders by cash or by processing credit card transactions through credit card machine Responsible for maintaining accurate seller drawer, daily balance sheets, ticket transactions, and seating requests. Must be able to accurately handle cash, add, subtract multiply or divide in all units of measure Ability to handle difficult or emotional customer situations, respond to requests for service and assistance, and provide accurate directions for guest inquiries Maintain accurate daily records and reports for the Ticket Office including event files, ticket ledgers, daily sales figures, event information documents, and seating charts Maintain a professional and hospitable appearance and atmosphere Follow health and safety protocols and ensure staff is also following procedures Performs related duties provided by the Box Office Manager Must be able to multi-task and be able to adapt quickly to changing environments Competencies Ability to ensure a high level of customer service and patience Ability to adapt to changes, delays, or unexpected events Excellent organizational and time management skills Must be able to accurately handle cash. Must be able to add and subtract basic math Supervisory Responsibilities None Work Environment Most work is conducted in the AMSOIL Ticket Office, in a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, but can be very loud. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, evenings, weekends and holidays. The Ticket Seller may be in varying work spaces based on the needs of the Box Office Manager or each event. The pace will vary and the Ticket Seller will need to adapt quickly. Physical Demands The Ticket Seller will need to use their hands frequently, and be able to see, hear, type, and speak often. The employee may occasionally be required to bend, sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee must frequently lift/and or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Travel Required None Required Education and Experience Must have knowledge of basic cash handling and computer skills; Excel, Word and Windows. 1+ years customer service experience or related experience with the public Must be able to multi-task and adapt quickly to changing information or environment Ability to work individually and/or with a team Preferred Education and Experience Knowledge of Ticketmaster is a plus but not a requirement. Training provided. Additional Eligibility Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older Successful completion of reference checks Successful completion of a background check Successful completion of a drug test, if applicable Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s). The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources. At-Will Employment This position is at will.
