Assistant Food and Beverage Manager, Catering Front of House

 Hourly Wage
$19 per hour

The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will work closely with the Food & Beverage Manager, Director of Food Service and Executive Chef to ensure smooth operations for the DECC’s catering and bar events. They will assist with hiring, training, and supervising all catering server and bar staff. Strong customer service skills and the ability to adapt are necessary.


The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager is a full-time position with a schedule based on the DECC’s event schedule. This position will have day, afternoon, and/or evening shifts scheduled on various days of the week and may include some holidays.  Approximately 32-40 hours per week.  The DECC cannot always schedule a definite ending time due to the nature of the events, but an estimated time will be provided.

The required dress may fluctuate based on the events within the DECC. Business professional attire will be standard but there can be fluctuation based on event themes and tones. The DECC will provide a branded t-shirt and/or polo.

  • Provide excellent customer
  • Assist with training, supervising and working alongside catering and bar staff
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the catering department
  • Assist with scheduling of catering and bar staff
  • Assist with management of linen and alcohol inventory
  • Assist with the management of food inventory, when needed
  • Serve as a floor manager for events
  • Works with other departments to problem solve and ensure the best customer experience
  • Management of Quest POS system, front of house and back of house
  • Cash handling, credit card, and till management
  • Other Duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities
Assist in scheduling, training and supervising catering and bar staff. Assist with timecard management.

Work Environment
The majority of work will be performed within doors. Many of the areas will fluctuate from moderate to loud noise levels. Temperature can fluctuate from hot to cold.

Physical Demands
This position will require someone that is able to stand on their feet for many hours at a time, moving quickly to different places based on needs.  They will need to use their hands frequently and be able to see, hear, and speak often.  This position will require bending, maneuvering and also the ability to move and lift up to 40 pounds at times.

Travel Required

Required Education and Experience

  • There are no minimum education requirements for this position
  • Basic math skills and cash handling experience
  • 3+ years supervisory or managerial experience within the catering field

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Serve-Safe Certification
  • Supervisory experience within the Food and Beverage industry
  • Previous Quest POS experience

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Successful completion of reference checks
  • Successful completion of a background check
  • Successful completion of a drug test, if applicable

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements
The DECC uses USCIS Form I-9 to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment. On the form, an employee must attest to his or her employment authorization. The employee is required to present the DECC with acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization at the time of hire. The DECC will examine the employment eligibility and identity document(s).
The list of acceptable documents can be provided by Human Resources.

This position is at will. This means if you are offered the position and accept, your employment with the DECC is for an indefinite period of time and it is subject to termination by you or the DECC, with or without cause, with or without notice, and at any time.
